Inspired by her observation of shadows reflected on the ground, the artist spent many weeks perfecting the technique used to express objects in two dimensions on canvas. This way, the chosen subject transforms into an image. This happens especially with living objects or objects that die like fruit or even humans. Alexa Meade's work is ephemeral, but the photo is the only thing that remains. Because the photography and painting methods are closely coordinated it creates a trompe l'oeil effect, that creates the illusion of 3D is only visible at certain places, for example the area around the eyes or the hair. Meade has integrated her models painted by Meade into the 3D space that surrounds the models. The interaction between them as well as the world they created is conceivable. By doing so, Meade has dissolved the boundaries between photography, painting and performing.
